Inspiring your children's love of reading with a variety of authors, energetic storytelling and a barrel of laughs!
Little readers have lots of opportunities to talk to our authors. There will be terrific tales, creative crafts and fantastic facts! Celebrate the love of reading and inspire their imaginations with our line-up of children's events.
This year we are delighted to welcome popular local author Louise Beech as our 'Author in Residence.’
Louise once bet her mum ten pounds that she’d be published by thirty - she managed it by age 31! It took Louise many years and many rejections to finally get a book deal in 2015.
Louise’s latest book 'I Am Dust’ is the East Riding’s 'Big Read’ 2020 and on Thursday October 15 at 7.00 pm you can join in the online conversation with Louise and Radio Humberside’s Fiona Mills who will be talking about 'I Am Dust’ and all things books! This will be a fun evening so don’t miss out! Oh, by the way she never paid her mum the £10!
Using the power of poetry to educate people about dementia. Local poet Catherine Scott is working with East Riding secondary schools around the theme of dementia. Young people will perform their poetry at library reminiscence sessions, for those living with dementia and their carers. A project we are excited to be piloting in the East Riding.
